Basic Info
Name:Miles Edgeworth [AU]
Birthdate:04-02
Bio
Character: Miles Edgeworth
Series/Fandom: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Original or Alternate: Alternate

Age: 24
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Sexuality: Bisexual

Appearance: A pale skinned man, standing at 5'10, with silvery hair cut to frame his face and grey eyes to match. He typically wears a white shirt, black vest, and a dark magenta suit which consists of a jacket top and matching slacks, and black shoes. He has a gold
circular pin on the lapel of his suit jacket.

Personality: Initially, Miles comes off as distant: he's a rather quiet and 'private' individual, choosing to not open himself readily on purpose. He spends most of his free time studying or reading. He is very serious about his work, and that determination shows
through. Even around his close friends, he feels awkward and not sure of how he should act.

This 'introverted' personality stems from an underlying feeling of paranoia he obtained from an early age. He's a hard person to trust, as he tries to remain independent. There is a fear of getting too close and becoming too dependent on others, so Miles tries to keep himself as independent as possible.

He has a soft spot for children's television shows, which he tries to keep secret.

As a defense attorney, he is known for being very methodological in the way he deals with cases: leaving no stone unturned until the truth is uncovered. Once he takes a case he becomes absorbed with it until the final verdict is issued. He is very serious about his
job and tends to become obsessed with detail. He feels a lot of pressure considering who his father is, and is trying very hard to live up to his standards, even if they are mainly self-imposed. 'Control freak' has been used quite often in describing him.

Despite his dedication to his work, Miles has a hard time believing that everyone is truly 'innocent', and tends to be rather selective with cases he will take.
Abilities/Strengths: Miles has excellent analytical skills. He's very good at figuring out situations, even on a small amount of evidence. He double checks and triple checks evidence, and uses it to support his claims. He is very intelligent and knowledgeable, and
has a problem conveying that in a way that does not appear arrogant.

Weapons: None.

Weaknesses: Miles has a tendency to doubt himself. If there is something that he is unsure of, he will go over everything repeatedly until he is sure of the outcome. This is rather obsessive, but he also has underlying undiagnosed obsessive compulsive tendencies. He also tends to be rather insecure, even if he tries to hide it with his determination. Since
he is set on the truth behind evidence, his opinion is difficult to sway if something odd or out of the ordinary needs attention.

History: Miles grew up with his father, as his mother passed away while he was very young. His father was a brilliant man and very famous defense attorney, and Miles looked up to him greatly - so much so that he decided at an early age that he wanted to be just like
him when he grew up.

Gregory got offered a better position and ended up moving, transfering his son Miles into the school where Phoenix Wright and Larry Butz were attending. He was a quiet kid, and many considered him to be weird.

One day in fourth grade, Miles came back from gym class and found out that his lunch money, a total of $38, was stolen. The class blamed Phoenix, and so he was being 'charged' through a court trial. The class was relentless, but Miles stood up against everyone and challenged them to find proof. There was no solid proof that Phoenix had done it, he argued, and there
was no need to apologize if Phoenix was innocent. Larry stood up for Phoenix as well, and Phoenix was declared innocent. The teacher gave Miles lunch money, to make up for the amount he lost.

This case inspired Phoenix in the same way Miles' dad offered his son inspiration, so the two of them (with Larry tagging along) became fast friends.

A few days after Christmas, Miles was attending a case with his father against a ruthless prosecutor, Manfred von Karma. His father found a flaw in Manfred's testimony, which earned him his first penalty and broke his 'perfect' record. His father lost the case anyway, but it was a great trial.

Miles was with his father and the baliff, Yanni Yogi, as they headed for the exit. They ended up getting stuck in the elevator when an earthquake struck, killing the power and trapping the three inside. Yanni began to argue with Gregory which resulted in
something being dropped, and Miles became so frightened that he picked up the item that fell (which turned out to be a gun) and threw it in an attempt to get Yanni to leave his father alone.

There was a gunshot, and Miles passed out. A few hours later he awoke in a hospital, where he was told his father had been shot but was in stable condition. Miles ended up missing a week of school while his father recovered, staying by him constantly. During this time.. Miles changed. He wasn't as cheerful and optimistic as he was, and instead became rather quiet and reclusive.

When asked what was bothering him, Miles wouldn't say anything. Everyone just chalked it up to the traumatic experience of being so close to his father's attempted murder, as well as from being trapped without oxygen for so long.

The baliff was brought in through a trial but was found innocent: the evidence wasn't strong enough, and Yanni was declared to have suffered mentally from the lack of oxygen in the elevator. This only made Miles even more reclusive, because with no attacker mentioned to his father.. he began to blame himself. There was mixed guilt with paranoia: on the offchance
that he didn't do it, what if someone else did? What if they would come after his father to finish the job?

Or worse.. what if they came after him?

This guilt remained internal, and he became fiercely protective of his father. He went through schooling, still trying to follow his dream of being like his father, but imposed harsh rules on himself. He studied a lot and worked really hard at his schooling, as if
that would overshadow the inner turmoil he felt.

Because of this, his social life suffered, but he still managed to stay close to Phoenix and Larry, keeping up with them all through college.

Because of his grades, Miles managed to pass his bar exam and become a lawyer two years earlier than normal. He was considered a 'prodigy' by many, and ended up working at the same firm as his father until Phoenix graduated and became an attorney as well.

After some discussion, Miles decided to leave his father's firm and work with Phoenix at Fey and Co.
